Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

will get back to you.

Can anyone recommend a good engineer who can reassemble rings onto pistons and pistons into bores etc near Marlborough / SN8. I have snapped 2 rings so far, I need someone who has skill and not 10 thumbs. Anything from just gapping and fitting the rings for me through to reassembly and fettle to get it running well. I can deliver by trailer.

Thanks

I have bought mine 5 years back from the club. If they are out of stock you could have my set. I have never used them.

Cheers

Should Chris not want yours I would be interested for my Mk 4.

General Douglas Discussion / Re: Help
Last post by Alan - 30 Nov 2024 at 23:31
A comment was made about the somewhat strange and noisy Siamese exhaust arrangement. Found a pic of T Thompson racing a bike with a similar system in the early 20's. The date a bit unclear but said to be the same design as ridden by Bailey at Brooklands in 1920.

Thanks for all the comments. Yes the TT web site is not easy to use but I did eventually manage to do a search on the surname Lloyd and from 1907 to now there were only 5 riders with this surname and the ealiest was in the 1950's. See attached screenshot. There is no record of anyone with the surname Lloyd back in the 1920's. Thanks again for all your help.

General Douglas Discussion / Model Z steering damper
Last post by saluki42 - 30 Nov 2024 at 11:03
Hi, I'm trying to find some details of my Model Zs steering damper parts. The attached are the parts that cam with the bike, the strange lump on the end is I believe the remains of the adjusting knob which was melted in the fire 40+ years ago.
Looking at a post from 29th September 2009 it appears to be the same arrangement as that used on the 36 Aero as posted by Doug. what I am missing, apart from the adjusting knob, are the friction disks.  Any information on the number of disks and any special features I should be aware of such as locating devices etc would be very helpful.

Thanks
Chris
