In my 1926 350 EW inlet (rear) pipe there are the remains of what I believe is a metal gauze there it looks like at one time it was fitted across the pipe at the junction with the engine it is now split and hanging down but still securely attached in some places. there is no sign of any fitment like it in the front pipe. was this a standard fitment as a flame trap?
