MK V fuel Taps
« on: 15 Nov 2017 at 18:52 »
Good evening all, I have now got the MK running and decided its time to ditch the ' Fairy Liquid bottle ' in favour of  it's fuel tank . but I cannot find anywhere that has the twin type fuel taps for sale  new  or s/h  any ideas please ? The club ,I am lead to believe does not do any fuel piping items. If anyone has  a serviceable pair of taps for sale please let me know.
I also need a headlight and switchgear and a fuel filler cap.
Heres hoping and thanks in advance .
Jonathan

Nice try and thanks for the heads up ,but this seller 'David ' only has  taps with a 3/8 bsp thread for the tank end and i don't feel confident that the tap will alter to 1/4 bsp. Nice helpful chap though .
Jonathan. so still looking .

I can confirm that a 3/8" bsp thread will not alter itself to 1/4".

1/4 BSP taps are readily available from many suppliers. The only issue is their life span! Modern fuel seems to wreck cork and brass tap seals in short order. I think Paul Goff sells ethanol proof taps.

I think I'd rather have leaky taps than buy anything from Goff!

I have repaired my (cork) taps always by myself and think cork is resistant the new fluel.

e bay have replacement Viton o seals for the taps, I think about £5 for 2 sets of 4 rings (4 each side), works well. I also have the remains of 2 original taps spare if they're any use to you?
