2 3/4HP Gearchange Linkages
« on: 22 Aug 2022 at 20:55 »
Hi,
Now I have finished the gearbox I need to make the linkage that connects the operating arm on the gear box to the bottom of the tram handle.

Would someone please be able to give me some measurements of the parts in the photo.

For the long rod (Part No 1286D)
1. The diameter of the rod
2. The length of the part from the center of the hole to the end of the rod

For the link part (Part No 1285D)
1. The diameter of the rod
2. The length of the part from the centers of the 2 posts
3. The diameter of the posts and their lengths

Many Thanks

Marcus

Marcus,

I have attached a couple of photos that I hope give you want you need.

I have two types of linkage. The threaded type is 5/16 rod and the one you after (1286D)  is 1/4". The treads in Part 1285D on my part are a mix of 25 and 26 tpi, I suspect that 25 tpi was the design and mine has been forced to accept 26.

Hi Rob,

That is perfect, thank you for posting this. I can get on and turn these up in the lathe.

Cheers

Thanks again Rob,

Here are the parts I made yesterday. I need to get some square stock to make the fitting that goes on the end of long rod as I didn't have any.

Cheers
