Help to Identify a make and model please

Could someone please help me identify the model of dad's Douglas motorcycle. Dad has died and Mum would like to know what the cycle is and if it is saleable because she does not want to just throw it out. The frame number is 8446/4B and seems to be blue in colour. I have attached a photo.

Anita i think it is a mk4 douglas post war around 1950

  This frame (8446/4B) and cycle parts are from a standard Mark 4 model finished in the blue colour scheme and sent from the factory in Kingswood, Bristol to Brisbane Motor Cycles of Australia on 10 July 1950.  I am sure some one will be interested in buying.   Reg.
