Hi folks I'm new here in the forum and wanted to show you a picture of my Gouglas from 1924 according to frame number
if someone could tell me something about the machine, I'd be happy.
it was brought from india to germany where i bought it now.
especially the carburetor, what is that for a type.

Hello there...the bike would appear to be mostly a Model SW/24. The midway between the everyday TS and the top of range CW. A 2 speed box and useless front brake. The carb (a bit modified) is as fitted to CW’s not a TS but don’t know if fitted to a SW. The colour I suspect is that left over from painting a rickshaw or bus.

but I have a three speed gearbox, which could have been changed later.
is there a better picture of the brochure?
I have to live with the "rickshaw color" first, the inner values are more important.
Can you still get handlebar fittings somewhere?

I was looking through old posts on the forum a few weeks ago and came across this post from Tony C way back in 2007. When I saw your paint scheme it reminded me of the postcard :-)

From what I can gather the frames of early Douglas motorcycles were always Black.
But if the Factory or Dealer was asked for a special request they might accommodate it.
I have attached a postcard posted on Jan 18th in 1923 from Bristol to Manchester.
The back of it is quite dirty so it is hard to read but this is what it says;

INDIVIDUALITY
Have you ever been struck by the monotonous
  "sameness"  of motor cycles generally? Take
any  particular make and you will find the finish
lacking individuality. How would you like to be
compelled to wear the same colour socks, the
same colour tie and hat as the other fellow?
  There is no need for this "sameness" ----Buy
a Coram Douglas and have the tank finished to
your own liking. It costs you nothing extra.
Make a mental note of some of these artistic
colour schemes:--
      Brown and chocolate panels and double gold lines.
      Lemon with chocolate panels and single chocolate lines.
      Robin egg blue, with Douglas blue panels and blue lines.
      Chocolate with gold leaf panels and white single lines.
      Black with carmine panels and white lines.

So maybe not all 2 3/4 hp were the standard factory issue colours!? It would be interesting to know if the paint scheme of your bike is a recent artistic creation or a copy of what was on the bike before restoration?

Hi Thomas,

That’s certainly an interesting colour scheme and Hutch’s post makes very interesting reading.

I’m currently restoring an SW24 but it is the boring standard colour scheme!

Pre-war spares are available to LDMCC members but the pre-war spares secretary’s email address has been inadvertently omitted from the last couple of New Conrods. If you look at some of last years editions you should find it.

Another interesting feature of the illustration is the 'Zoom Zoom' exhaust - I believe that was also one of Coram's options!

To the color that was originally on the motorcycle I can unfortunately say nothing I have so acquired
but I think sas it looks very much like the red and the design as in the picture right below!
