Ron Hipwell - Speedway Rider
« on: 20 Apr 2007 at 11:50 »
Hi all,
I have been contacted by the sons of the famous Australian speedway rider, Ron Hipwell, regarding a website with photos of his life - we have permission to use the information however we want to, so go for it. The family has given permission to use 12 pages of history and pictures from their website to ours if we so desire.

Regards, Alan.

Hi all,
Thanks Alan for introducing us to the Hipwell brothers Geoff and Bryan. We have been in touch with them and they have kindly confirmed their permission, in fact it is their wish, that we host the pages 'Ron's Scrapbook' to make them readily accessible to our members and to Douglas enthusiasts at large. The 'scrapbook' is a wonderful record of their father's involvement in motorcycle speedway mounted almost exclusively on Douglas machines. It contains much valuable history and many historic photographs of motorcycle speedway as it was in the period 1921 - 1925.

It is a very valuable record and we are proud to have it entrusted to us to publish for the sake of Douglas enthusiasts everywhere. We thank Geoff and Bryan for entrusting us with it.

Take this link to download and enjoy Ron's Scrapbook'.
