Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Google Translate version of Müs' post above.

Quote from: MüsThanks, the link was exactly what I needed.
Since I have to translate everything first, searching the forum is not always easy,
so thanks

Danke, der Link war genau das, was ich brauchte.
Da ich alles erst übersetzen muss, fällt mir die Suche im Forum nicht immer leicht,
also danke

If you search on this forum for 2 ¾ HP Big End Bearings
you will find several replies suggesting 2 to 3 thou clearance.
This gives some room for the oil to be where it needs to be.
In Imperial, this would be 0.002" to 0.003"
This assumes the conrod parts are perfectly circular, and the shaft/journals also.

I don't know how this relates to 20 100ths of a mm ??  (~ 8 thou  ???)
That sounds like things are worn, and possibly oval ?
There are several good replies on getting worn parts back into good condition.

Hello guys, I have a question from my mechanic about the model sw 25:

How much plea (pole bearing game) it originally had, now it's 20/100mm.

I would be nice to know what was in the original.
Thanks in advance

General Douglas Discussion / Number Plate GF 5656
Last post by saluki42 - 30 Oct 2024 at 10:31
Hi, I've just been going through a random box of bits that were delivered with my Model Z project. To my surprise stuck under the flap of a cardboard box was a front number plate "GF 5656". I bought my Z by the pallet load from a person in Denmark where I believe it had been, laying fully dismantled  for at least 45 years. I was therefore even more surprised to find out, after contacting the UK DVLA to find it was in fact not just from a Douglas but one the was recorded as a still active 1930 Douglas, model not shown.

If the owner wants a souvenir of the origins of their bike, unless it was reissued as an age related plate, please reply and Ill sort it out for you.

DVLA site shows it as taxed till May 2025 so it's on the road. It's a 1933 750 and last V5C was issued in Nov 2011 so I guess it has't been sold . . .
