Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Hi all,

I have the bent and battered remains of a Douglas Industrial Truck (minus motor and clutch arrangement).  I would love to restore a working example of this interesting item.  If anyone has any information, books, parts or complete motor I would love to hear from you.  I can provide photos and some small assumed details.  I beleive that the engine is a 1930s 600cc douglas flat twin.  Many thanks for your help I am located in Sydney Australia.  0414 692 867

G'day
I remember a Douglas Industrial Truck in the "lock-up" at the rear of Green's Motor Museum at Leppington, Sydney many years ago....not sure if it had its motor or not.
I wonder if this is what you now have?
Howard.

You are right Howard the motor is in fact a 600 cc version as used up until I believe at least late 40's. They were also used in milk delivery vehicles and other variations in the land of manufacture. My version although yellow has an army green coat underneath. My speel to visitors is that they were used in warehousing, foundries and Dalgetty type Woolstores. Stand corrected if I am wrong?

The earlier lift truck versions were hydraulic and the later version has a screw lift scissor lift the version I have which was shown in the new conrod during the centenary year I think it was. This machine of mine was used by me extensively before I purchased a fork lift. In particular my old coaster bus received an engine transplant by backing the body under the bumper and raising the complete front of the bus a weight I consider more than the 25 cwt lifting capacity.

Also as I mentioned  previous I have another version of the motor with plate heads that is the valves are part of the barrels. During my latest purchase of a Vespa a absolutely complete motor tank and numerios parts were thrown in with the deal.

Try and find some pics to post tomorrow>>>> Alan

Thanks Dave,Think photo one is self explanitory. Second pic shows on the lower shelf the difference in cylinder heads. These motors were set up with fuel and oil tanks to run at displays. To the left of the two stationaries is a 600 EW motor set up to run with a gearbox and hand start. Above are the TS 80 thou series motors used I believe as army units for charging and pumps. These are cranked anti clockwise through the cam gearing. Note also the 600 mag with twin gearing to run governor. In desparation have parted the second set of teeth to use in bikes. The mystery motor on the floor below the 600's is from a Toyota Toyo Pet.

On the floor is the late arrival motor and along side the Doug single stationary.

Also not shown I have the 350 post war style stationary.

As mentioned previously I have modified a damaged S/T 6 frame to take 600 stationary engine cases and crank etc. I will feature this when a bit more progress is done. Also back in the shed is the S1 will take some pics and post soon. regards Alan
