can you identify these douglas crankshafts and rods.
another lot from the massive hoard of bits recently acquired but not needed so for sale.
number them 1to 6 from top left to bottom right.
identify them for me.
buy them. individually or as a lot.
simples.
the rods all turn freely.
they have been stored oily.
so are probably useable.
let me know.

Hi Alastair, do all the top row cranks have oilway passages through the centre of the shaft, Regards John

Doug

Crankshaft #1 I can see the flat on the timing side journal to drive the crankcase breather disk. That would make it 1931-37, 250 or 350cc. At some point between 1931 and 1935 they changed the conrod design from a press in race (that was prone to work loose) to a integral case-hardened surface for the bearing rollers.

I cannot see if #2 & #3 have the flat. But the center web is less finished and the throws have the earlier look of the EW. So 1926-1930 350cc.

I could use a crankshaft for my 1931 350cc A31, but the several examples I have acquired and disassembled was heavily worn on the center web due to the rollers walking sideways and i just don't see my luck changing!
