I don't know what this engine was used in, but attached are pictures of a 4hp engine I have. Note the large ring gear.

Forks, general  gear change location and what appears to be non-duplex front down tubes on frame are similar?? Not 100% sure but closest I have found so far......

I made an error in my post above about the 1914 4HP Douglas being the inspiration for the BMW M2B15, if Stolle's Douglas was a 1914 Model A or B it would have been a 3 1/2 HP (500cc) engine. Very similar to the slightly later 4HP Engine. I have corrected the post.

The M2B15 engine is very much more similar in design to the Douglas 3 1/2 HP (500cc) and 4 HP (600cc) engines than the 2 3/4HP (350cc). I will post some comparisons and also look into this in more detail when I get a chance.

My excuse is lake of sleep due to the effects of Cyclone Alfred since mid last week, which, although it has crossed the coast and  is dissipating, is still making things rather damp!! :-)
