1922 Douglas
« on: 02 Nov 2016 at 10:03 »
Hi, I'm new to this forum and am looking to get a Douglas, I have a few other older bikes such as 1928 Ariel, 1924 Bsa.
I am interested in a 1922 Douglas 2-3/4, can you give me an idea of things I should look out for, would a 1922 model have a kick start? The one I'm looking at is belt drive, any info would be useful.

The engine number for the bike I'm interested in is 68194 and the frame number is 58919 would this be correct for a 1922 machine?
Thank's.
Graham

Thanks for your reply Steve, I have seen this section of the forum but 1922 seems to be a year not very well covered and it seemed the engine number I quoted would be 1924  and the frame number 1926 so I was hoping for some clarification

Hi Graham,

I think you may be misreading the table a little re frame numbers: 58919 seems to be a 1923 number. So in response to your question "The engine number for the bike I'm interested in is 68194 and the frame number is 58919 would this be correct for a 1922 machine?" I think we're going with "No".

There are many "TS" Douglases out there with mis-matched numbers, but I doubt this has spoiled anyone's fun.

Cheers

Leon
