EW petrol tank caps
« on: 05 Aug 2021 at 09:01 »
Does anyone make the tank caps for petrol and oil for the EW model (and others?) - 2 bayonet type, not the screw on type. ??
Thanks,
Roger

Maybe you could run classes on making them - or supply them readymade !?
There is certainly a demand for them.

There has been previous chitchat that the Austin 7 chappies have suitable caps available for some models of those.
But not nickel plated ...

I think you will find the Austin 7 caps are oil filler caps that probably dont have the breather hole necessary for use on a petrol tank.

Nonetheless, they are the caps oft recommended. ?

And it doesn't take much to add a hole. !
Much easier than removing one...

They do have 3 rivet heads, rather than 2.
Rivet counters take note

I thought it was worth mentioning it, as, without the breather hole, the engine could run weak (with disastrous consequences!)

Thanks everyone. This request was for a pal in Worcestershire who has managed to lose his petrol cap. I've passed on the replies.
Cheers,
Roger
