On the above item is the bolt hole for the link fork in the eyebolt elongated slightly? If it should be a simple hole then the two links have worn surprisingly equally

Tim,
       The hole should be elongated - it allows the reaction link to self-align, thus reducing the chance of springing the brake back plate out of line.
