Comet 250 magneto timing

Hello, Can anyone tell me the correct method to time the magneto on a 250 Comet?
On my other bikes I would use slip gauges and a DTI but a timing disc may be easier on the Douglas? If so is it 40 deg. BTDC?

Hi Mark,
I used a disk I printed off the internet to time mine but also works my measurement on the front piston (that’s if your head has a screw you can remove) I posted a little about this in my aero 250 post
