MkV Tappet adjustment
« on: 08 Jun 2019 at 18:44 »
Hi, so I have the right side spark plug out and the piston is at TDC. The right side valves are now closed as there is correct clearance between tappet and valve end. In the manual it says "the valves of the other cylinder will be 'rocking' "(page 4 under Tappet Adjustment). What does this mean? The valves of the other cylinder are open. Help appreciated, thanks, Paul

Hi Paul, with the one piston on TDC ready to start its power stroke, ( your RH cylinder ) the other piston will have just finished its exhaust stroke so the exhaust valve will be closing and at the same time the inlet valve will be opening, this is the point known as being on the rock.
