I came across this bike

I guess I saw it earlier but can not find the thread any more.
So (again?) what are your thoughts on this bike;
What kind of price would you offer for it.

Well, that is a quite extraordinary Douglas special!
The engine looks to be from the 20s (the barrels at least), perhaps the frame was originally 1916, and certainly the forks are veteran, but the frame is seriously modified to mount the engine in the transverse position.
I have to say I like the result, it looks to be very well done. A price? Who knows with a special like this?

The brightly painted inside to the exhaust pipes also begs the question 'Does it run?' or 'Has it run far enough to iron out any bugs?'

I am not sure how to understand your comment Graeme,
Is this bike has any value, being so much modified?

It would be interesting to see what the registration document claims it to be - very little of the frame originated in the Hanham Road factory.

It has a french registration and it is said it is registered with the LDDMC...
I am asking for a friend's friend so he'll probably investigate a bit more.

Eric, I am sure the bike has some value, it is just hard to gauge with such a modified machine - there is nothing to compare it to. Specials are often worth quite a bit more than an original machine, it depends on how well the job has been executed and how much interest there is of course. I like the machine, but couldn't really have any idea how much it will sell for
