E29 main drive bearing size
« on: 12 Feb 2018 at 06:37 »
Hi all hope someone can help, trying to find correct bearing size for main drive bearing on E29.

Looking at using 4206-BB-TVH   30 id,  62 od, 20 depth.

Many thanks

Hi Glen,
Douglas engines of that period were fitted with a bearing 21mm wide (which is now not available). The recommended replacement is a 62 x 30 x 20mm wide double row rigid bearing (as used on postwar models) with a 1mm shim between it and the bearing housing (putting the bearing hard against the shoulder on the crankshaft).

  Regards,
                Eddie.

It is right what eddie is writing.
The bearing 4206 is easy to get.
I think about using a 4206 also in a H3 engine, the engine had 2 of 30x62x10 on drive side, but I think it is better to use a double row bearing.
On timing side was a 25x60x12 (98305) bearing fitted, has the E29 also the same size?
