Update on my Douglas
« on: 11 Sep 2011 at 11:05 »
I thought you would enjoy seeing my Douglas ( 1925) engine running. I have been attempting to restore it for years but without much success.
It took a series of events some fortunate other not to to lead me to this point. Where a wonderful friend and her father ( and her uncle) took on the job and have got it to this stage.
I am so thankful to these wonderful people as they have been so supportive of bringing this bike back to life . It will fulfill a dream to ride a bike my Grandad rode in WW1 ( in Bagdhad) as well s being able to show the running bike to my Mum and Dad who are elderly.

Cheers Michael

I also thought this post by my friend Sue about her Dad who was instrumental in this restoration should be forwarded as well.

I feel like I have to post this my dad can't talk has a neurological disorder can barely walk has lost all dexterity and in a space of three months painstakingly restored an old 1925 motorcycle Douglas engine that was meant for the scrap heap and today we started it and it fired up and ran perfectly third go what a legend and more importantly what an inspiration to anyone who has ever felt sorry for themselves.

Wonderful people that I have the honour and privilege to know
Cheers Michael

Graeme,

Probably because to view the FaceBook page the link points to, a login is required.

Michael,

If you are able to post the video on YouTube or similar, then replace the link in your post with the Youtube link, other Members will be able to see it.
