Edin,

Sintered bronze, or Oilite, is usually not considered a good choice for a small end bush for a connecting rod. It does not have a high compressive strength. It is a bit like a sponge, and as the material is compressed you will get premature gudgeon pin clearance. Granted, most Dougies do not make a lot of harmful power, but they are still subject to the same inertial loadings. Usually lack of lubrication is not a problem in a Dougie engine (normally!), so the oil bearing pores of sintered bronze offer no advantage.
