Sigh.
In 2018 Australia Post released a set of four postage stamps featuring "Australian Motorcyles". They contacted me to get some background on the machines - a Kelecom, The Precision, the Whiting V4, and an Invincible JAP. I asked them why they had chosen (1) a (probably imported) machine carrying the name of a famous Belgian engineer, (2) a machine carrying the name of a British engine (and fitted with a Triumph petrol tank), (3) a machine built in England c1916 (albeit by an Australian to his design), along with the fabulous Invincible JAP.
They had a "consultant". It's the experts - they're everywhere. Poor souls.
We had some ripper bikes made in Australia, many with good Aussie names: Aussi-Also, Coo-ee, Southern Cross, Boomerang, Bullock, Quirk's Mona, Uneeda, Veribest... there are nearly 600 of them.
I'm with Eddie - I'm tired of rubbish. Best to just ignore it, I suppose.
Cheers
Leon
