Valve sprting Cover 1930 Douglas 350cc
« on: 24 Jun 2019 at 16:51 »
Hi,

I would like to finish my 1930 Douglas 350cc H3.
with the dismantled engine came 2 different valve spring covers.
I think the "grit" one is the right type, the cosed cover a more early type?
the "grit" one fits only on front cylinder.
I would like to get more informations and help.

sorry for the mistake in the "Subject"!

Valve Spring Cover

The engine No is ER812.
The covers are similar to B29 and on?
The closed type may be EW?

Michael,

The 350cc models through 1929 had 'solid' tappet covers. Starting with the 1930 350cc models, the covers had the ventilation slots.

Doug,
thanks for the information!
It seems so, the rear cover has a different shape (like the one without the slots, with double bow)?

Has someone an idea; may be I can do an alloy cast reproduction.
A friend is artist for scultures and do alloy + bronce casting.

Years ago the LDMCC Spare Department had these as unfinished castings. Don't know if they still offer them, but someone might have a unused set under the workbench.

Hi Doug,

that sounds interesting.
Do you think I should try to ask under "wanted"?
