1929 EW Douglas oiling
« on: 18 Feb 2016 at 14:03 »
Having just completed an overhaul of this engine, I am anxious to establish correct lubrication before it goes on the road. I have verified that the hand pump is delivering oil to the timing chest, but how do I check on whether the mechanical pump is doing its job, and delivering oil to the crankcase? I have removed the drain plug at the bottom of the engine, and nothing is coming out. The tap is of course in the down position. Also, how many drops a minute should I be setting on the sight gauge? Also, many years ago products such as Bardahl were on the market as additives to oil to prevent seizure, anybody got recent experience of them? Thanks
Patrick
