MK III Sport Tank Paint layout
« on: 15 Feb 2016 at 02:43 »
Could anyone help with further photographs of the top of a MkIIIS tank?
I have seen from various photos that the tank should be black (as the base colour), with a silver panel on top, 2 chrome bands, then a thin area of black, a white pinstripe and the blue side panel around the knee pad.

Any photos from on-top to allow me to scale/judge the dimensions of the top panel and stripes would be very helpful.
Thanks.

Hi,
The blue panels on a Mk3 Sports tank were a lighter colour than those on a standard Mk3 tank - sorry, but I cant help with the actual paint code.

  Regards,
                Eddie.

Very nice picture, thanks.
I believe that's a MKIII, not the sport model - no chrome on the tank. The top of the MkIII tank is silver to match the mudguards, I think... I'll have to mark it up and leave it to the painter to decide exactly how to do it. I was really trying to find out if there's any pin striping around the top paint panel, or only on the side blue areas.

So standard for the Mk III sport was black with 2 chrome bands, blue panels on the side with white pinstripes and a silver panel on top.
It is difficult to see from the photos I can find of bikes with the silver top panel and chrome, was there a white pinstripe around the silver? Thanks.
