Douglas S6 piston alternatives
« on: 12 Mar 2011 at 14:00 »
Hi Group

I have been informed that S6 pistons are a bit thin on the ground and that Hillman Imp pistons can be used instead.
Could someone confirm this fact and give me info as regards compression height/ratio and small end bush differences plus anything else that might be of use

Regards Trev

Hi Trev.
A friend of mine has used Hillman Imp Pistons in his 1927  600EW so they are a good substitute the bike is still running after many years on the road . Compression ratio unknown ,as long as they dont hit the head who cares. Small end cant remember but either an exact fit or an easy ream out !!
Hope this helps
Regards
Clive
