Spoke numbers
« on: 04 Dec 2010 at 12:09 »
Hi All
I have been wondering about early type wheel hubs on the 2 3/4hp models.
I know that there was a change from Chater Lea hubs to Douglas hubs circa 1913 - 1914.
But did the early Douglas hubs have 36 spoke holes like the Chater Lea or did they have 40 holes like the later Douglas hubs.
Regards        Martin

Hi Martin
The Chater Lea hubs on my early Douglas have 36 spokes in the rear wheel and only 32 in the front wheel. Incidentally the CW model with 'C' Section Rims has only 36 spokes in both wheels while every other of my Douglas models from 1916 to 1957 has 40 spokes in each wheel.  Chris.
