Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Quick Reference Timeline of Douglas Catalogued Models

What follows is a timeline showing the chronology of cataloged Douglas models. It is not particularly meant to be a identification tool, but to show how various models evolved and were superseded by newer models. But as space permitted, some identifying features have been added in the form of comments.

Doug

A number of folks at the Australian Douglas Centenary Rally were asking about obtaining a copy of the Quick Reference Timeline of Douglas Catalogued Models poster that was on display. This poster is a horizontal version of the timeline in the previous post. The full size poster (24"x56") is a time consuming to print and a bit pricey to post around the world. Instead the following are electronic versions, in a PDF and MS Excel format. (You will need Adobe Acrobat {PDF} or Microsoft Excel installed on your computer to open these files) Note the timeline is not complete, there are still significant gaps that hopefully time and Douglas enthusiasts can help fill in.

Hi Doug, An excellent job, I will give you some details that might help with the gaps. My D33 has a Frame No. YF3143N - Engine No. 6/E132 and Gearbox No. GB/652. There are two machines known in the UK and mine here in Aust. Hope this will be of some use to you.  Regards Phil (Rossco).
