Outage today

We had quite a long outage today - at least six hours. The hosting company have informed me it was caused by some issues with a Domain Name Server. This means the site was still functioning OK, but our requests to display pages from www.douglasmotorcycles.net couldn't be translated into the IP address (a series of numbers) and forwarded to the server.

It's unclear at this stage, where the Domain Name Server that had the fault is located and who controls it.

However fortunately, the outage probably occurred during the quietest period of the day. I'm hoping it hasn't caused too much inconvenience.
