Bore size of 2 3/4hp model W
« on: 09 Jun 2016 at 04:43 »
Can anyone help in letting me know what the original bore size of the 350cc Model "W" was.   I cannot for the life of me find this in any of my literature !  My present bore measures 62mm, but I am sure this was not standard..
Any assistance appreciated.

According to the Identifying your Douglas section, model W should be 61mm bore. Does yours still have cast iron pistons?

Almost all the 2¾ engines had a bore of 60.8mm - only the pre 1913 veteran engines had smaller bores (60.0 mm) and were listed as being 340cc. As I understand it, the bores were 'size' and the running clearance was allowed for on the pistons.
