Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Again, thanks for the speedy reply Andrew, this sounds positive, however I am actually a messenger for Chris Bates who is looking for the kick start but does not have web access, I will pass on the good news to Chris in the morning, or if you wish, you can speak to him direct on this landline No ......01947 810301....... this is a Whitby, North Yorks number.

Many Many Thanks

Indeed it is. The larger diameter is 18.0 mm, the smaller is 15.3 mm. Centre-to-Centre, the overall length of the kickstart is about 168 mm.

Thanks for your reply Andrew, can you confirm if the "spigot" is tapered and if possible the diameters at each end of the taper. Many Thanks

General Douglas Discussion / Re: TS tram handle fixing

Hi Rob,
Thanks very much for that information. I had originally assumed that the handles were brass and brazed to the operating shaft, but when I got the one in the pile of parts with the taper pin I wasn't sure. I had actually made a wooden pattern to get one cast but don't need to now.

I had already made a new operating shaft although I got that wrong by the looks by tapping the end 3/8 for the nut but yours is a smaller diameter thread, presumably 5/16 with a Thackeray washer, so I will change that on mine. The original shaft had been cut off on the bottom so that is no good.

Cheers

Hi Chris, if you are still looking, is this of any use? I'm pretty sure it's a Douglas but not certain which model.

Marcus,

all my tram handles for TS style 2 speed duggies don't have the tapered pin securing the handle (but the 3 Speed CW, as Hutch said does).

These tram handle operating rods have the tapered pin for the striking rod connection.

Some of the less corroded ones are nickel plated on the handle and the operating rod.

Thanks Guys,

Once I drove the taper pin out and got the handle off the shaft, there is the remains of some Nickel plating so that answers my questions.
