Douglas Dragonfly Gear Change
« on: 08 Apr 2015 at 20:26 »
Hello,

Can anyone help me please.  I have just rebuilt my wife's Douglas Dragonfly gear box and I just can't get 1st gear.  Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I could have done wrong?

Cheers for the help

Spash,
The first gear pinion on the mainshaft runs on a bronze bush - it sounds as if that bush may be a little short, resulting in the gear not rotating freely on the shaft. If the gear is stiff, it wont line up with the dogs on the sliding gear, making engagement impossible.
  Regards,
                Eddie.

Hello Eddie,

Thanks for the quick response.  I will take a look at the weekend and see what I find.
