Tank on ebay
« on: 02 Aug 2009 at 10:32 »
Just wondering if anyone knows if this tank on e-bay is original with the notch in the back? I was looking at it for my TS project but it seems different.

I would think that the notch is an aftermarket mod - it certainly looks quite crudely done. The tank should suit your machine Stephen. interesting that it has "Gard Bros" painted on it. They were a leading Adelaide dealer at the time, and it would seem that they painted their name on the tank as a matter of course - certainly a few other Douglas machines have survived with their mark on the tank.
Cheers, Graeme

Also the tank part advertised by the same seller: do you think $150-00 is a fair price? Yes, I know you don't see them very often.

I would think $150 would be a fair price - as it has the pump fittings as well. As to whether the auction finishes at $150 is another thing entirely!

Got it!! It'll be about $200 NZD by the time it gets here, but, one more item ticked off the want list. Got to be good.

Nope; I'm on the track of some closer to home. These bits are getting hard to find eh? I guess the more people I talk to helps. There are only 2 othe Douglas owners that I'm aware of in Oamaru.
