T35 / Plus Frame Trouble
« on: 15 May 2022 at 06:35 »
I prepare a T35 frame for sand blasting and put out the torsion bars.
On left side end of the frame the polished tube (for the operating lever) came off the frame lug.
On the other side this tube is tight in the frame lug.

Is this tube normaly brazed in the lug?
What is to do?
I hope some one has an advise.

Michael

HI Michael I see the tube that came out of your frame looks a lot smaller than the other? I re made both of my tubes which were the same size .995"OD as they were badly rusted, if you look back through the forum you will see how I did. Regards. Phil 1.

Phil,

the tube is fitting well to the frame. It is just the photo, what is making a wrong dimensions.

I can not find the in the spares list as extra part- it is a complete to the frame. So it is not a "exchange part".

So I wonder one tube comes off the frame lug, the other not!
How do you get yours out the lug?

Hi Michael. It Is not a replacement part, I used some heat on the frame lug, brazed 1/2" nut on the end of the spigot tube and pulled it out of the frame with a length of studding and an out side spacer tube, then re made a pair of new spigots. See attachment.  Phil 1.

Hi Phil,

so I understand, you have made new lever tubes and these tubes pressed inside the frame lug (witout solder).
