Foot change gearbox
« on: 23 Apr 2013 at 23:14 »
Hello All,

I have recently purchased a 1937 600cc Aero.

The machine is fitted with a foot-change gearbox. Is this correct?

On the frame, there are lugs for the hand-change. The tank shows no signs of ever having a gate attached.

The gearbox appears to be correct and of Douglas manufacture. (Pictures to follow)

Any information greatly received.

Many thanks,
Christopher

To answer my own question:

I have found out, from several LDMCC Bristol section members, that foot-change was an option on later Aero's. This explains why it all looks to be correct.

I have never seen another with a foot-change and nor have the people that I have spoken to. Does anyone know of another/others?

Christopher

Hi Chris,
I think you'll find that the foot change box was also available for the earlier Wessex and Powerflow models, but there may have been some issues with it, as it seems not many buyers took up the option. There have been a couple of photos of them in the NCR over the years.

   Regards,
                 Eddie.
