The purchase of carbide lighting equipment was separate from the motorcycle. You would buy whatever brand the dealer offered, you had a preference for, or could afford. Eventually Douglas, like most makers, offered specific lighting systems as an option. This probably based on whatever they could get a good deal on. P&H seemed particularly favored, and are included in catalog advertisements.
Lamps that have the generator attached are more often than not bicycle systems.
