MK IV gear box oil level
« on: 16 Oct 2011 at 17:49 »
Please can any one help with the gear box oil level dip stick, there is no mention in any of my maintenance manuals to say whether it should be 'screwed in' to check the level.
Keith.

For some reason I always screw it in loosely as this will show the level that it will be operating at.

Also make sure your dipstick for the gearbox is soldered on & is in good condition - I have heard in the past of ones coming off & going into the gearbox!

Regards,

Dawn
