Hallo , I'm the new proud owner of a Douglas S6 1930 , still i have a few questions , one is about the primairy chaincase , and chaincase (is it original , and if not is there anybody that know where i can find one). Comments are welcome .

Aphex,

You do not have a good view of the primary chain case. But from what I can see of the back end, it does not look like the original. The original is an aluminum casting for the back half, with a stamped sheet metal front cover. There shoudl also be a sheet metal guard over the final drive chain.

Your photo 7847 does show the aluminium back primary cover and appears the correct tin front cover. If you look at this web (https://www.douglasmotorcycles.net/index.php?topic=2040) you will see the cover for the final chain drive. Your engine is similar to the D33 except for the timing cover and manifold, The same carby but downdraft not updraft as yours.

Thanks for all comments , is there anyone who knows where i could find a cover for the final chain drive.

Is there anybody that can tell if the rear mudgard in two pieces ( for changing quickly the rear tire ) was an option done by the Douglas company at the time (1930's), or if it is something that was done later.

I've not heard of the two piece rear mud guard on this model.
I have an original on my S6 which is a one piece. I'm sure they would not  put the joint were yours is because the supports are a one piece, welded near the mounting bolt and they are either side of your joint.

Hi Aphex,
                As Martin says, the original mudguard was one piece. It also had a reinforcing strip about 30mm wide down the inside of the centre of the mudguard. This strip was formed with a rib down either side - one side carried the wire for the tail light.
       Also, the rear chainguard was the same as the T6 but had a boss(13mm dia x 13mm long) on the side for the mounting bolt that went into the hole in the left hand mudguard stay.

Hi
My incomplete pile of bits included a rear mudguard with a "bodged" split as per yours and I couild find no evidence that this was anywhere near standard so have welded it all up.
Removal of the rear wheel is accomplised by slipping extenders on the centre stand feet and thus massively lifting the rear end.
I found the dimensions etc somewhere on this site.  It works a treat!
The rear chain guard description above is as mine.
