 :DHi All,What does the prefix RG/C on the gearbox mean.

Hello Barry, What does it mean? Well the early EW only has RG which I can only presume is R 350 cc and G gearbox now the improved gearbox with the RGC with sliding on rails I presume that this was the third attempt at success. This gear box was also used on the B29 model with I believe the same RGC. The difference in internals I have explained previously. Now for the 600 cc models W is the prefix and G for gear box I and there is WGT I think but that is getting away from your query. regards Alan

Hi Barry, from the information I have, the following are marking definitions.
RG 2 3/4hp (EW)
RG/A EW box with a new bush and steel sleeve for low gear.
RG/B EW box with sliding gear, ball plunger, no vent pipe hole and a new operating leaver.
RG/C EW box with new anchorage fixing.
RG/D Special box with low ratio for competion.
RG/E Box with stronger heavier kickstart quadrent and pinion.
RG/F Close ratio gears.
RG/G Box with solid gear (H3).
RG/H A/31 350cc gearbox.
