Title: Help Identifying Wartime Douglas Motorcycle
Post by: Joshua Barrett on 18 Jul 2019 at 10:42
Hi,

My first post here, my name is Joshua and I'm a photo restorer and colouriser. I've got a photograph that I absolutely love of a female motorcycle rider during WW2 (presumably) posing on her Douglas motorcycle.

I was wondering if anyone would be good enough to identify the Douglas model in question and more importantly the paint job it is sporting. I've searched and searched but have not found any other photographs of a Douglas carrying what appears to be the same paint job. It appears straight forward (no lining) but I want to make sure the colours are historically accurate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

- Josh

Hi Josh
This is a 4HP Douglas of 1915 - 1917 era. It looks like the tank is painted in the wartime brown rather than the typical Douglas silver and blue, so presumably made for war service rather than a requisitioned bike
Cheers, Graeme
