Hub ID Request
« on: 16 May 2018 at 15:33 »
Can anyone identify which Douglas models the hub in the attached pictures would have most likely been used on?  It is an 8 inch brake with a 7/16 inch axles.  I assume the stud and nut on the brake plate attaches to a brake stay instead of bolting to the brake plate directly to the forks?

Thanks, Gord

Gord,

That is a front hub for a 350EW. The only brake anchorage is a bush on the fork girder that the operating arm passes through. The stud and nut at the other end is some sort of alteration. The backing plates on the Douglas band brakes are little more than covers to keep the rocks and small children out of the brake mechanism. They are not intended to take any braking loads/reactions.

Thanks for the response Doug.  So that I can keep my eyes open for the right parts, does anyone have a picture of the parts I would need for the correct anchor and operating arm? (Available parts welcome too!)
