1950 MK5 parts needed
« on: 29 Jan 2018 at 08:49 »
Hello Douglas family,

I am currently restoring my Douglas MK5 from 1950. I have bought many parts from the club´s stock but there
are some things that they don't have. It is actually 3 things I would need:

1. Clutch Friction disc ( you can see that the inside is heavily worn, strange enough - the counterpart is still in good shape )
2. Left cylinder head ( mine has a crack between the exhaust valve and the plug thread )
3. Timing gear ( See photo, this one is worn out - the counter gears are OK )

I would be very thankful for any help in this respect.

Regards from snowy Austria

Martin

Hi Martin,

your center of the friction disc is indeed very worn; I have no idea to help.

The crank in the MK5 head is not unusal. On my MK4 engine both heads are welded (in former times).
I think there a good special welding shop can repair it!

The cam idler weel looks not too bad?!
Won´t you try to overhaul it?

Michael

Hello Douglas Family !

I have sorted out all problems and found parts for my projects except the left cylinder head.
Welding did not work out and that's why I am back here at the forum and would once again
ask for help.

I am looking for an MK4 MK5 left cylinder head ( without cracks  :) )

Many thanks for checking your "sheds"

Martin
