Douglas Mark fork fit Dragonfly
« on: 01 Dec 2017 at 14:06 »
Hi All

Looking at my Dragonfly Special I was considering looking at fitting the MARK leading link forks.
Do you think they fit the Dragonfly Frame? One of the concerns would be are the too high height wise compared to the Earls Forks on the standard  Fly?

Paul,
I have just checked the lengths of the 2 forks - fully extended, the Dragonfly forks are 1/2" longer than the Mark forks. As I see it, 2 problems may arise : 1. the wide spread downtubes of the Dragonfly frame may restrict the steering lock when using Mark forks. 2. You will probably have to make a couple of locknuts for the top of the steering stem (to effect bearing adjustment). The bottom bearings are the same on both Marks and Dragonflies. The top bearings are different in size and design - Mark top bearings screw onto the stem, whereas Dragonfly bearings slide on, backed up by an adjusting sleeve. Probably, the easiest solution would be to use the Dragonfly bearings in conjunction with the 2 locknuts for adjustment.

  Regards,
                 Eddie.

Hi Eddie
Great thanks for having a look and comparing the set up's on both bikes
The wide tubes on the frame will probably be the main problem.
