Dragonfly steering top plug
« on: 20 Oct 2017 at 21:17 »
Hi
I am ready to put forks into the Dragonfly frame however I can't find a top plug - steering column tube Plate 22 number 87 part number 34492. The club doesn't have one and I don't know what one looks like or how it fits. I have a box of bits so a description or photo would be handy.
Thanks
Peter

Peter,
It is just a round plug (to suit the bore of the steering column) with a threaded stud (about 3/8" long) in the top to suit the large chrome dome nut. From memory, when fitted, it stands about 1/2" proud of the top of the steering column (to suit the height of the cover plate around the handlebar links). If you make it an easy fit, you can Loctite it at the required height after fitting the tank and headlamp nascelle.

  Regards,
                Eddie.

Thanks Eddie. That solves the problem. Apart from not knowing what it looked like, I couldn't see how it was secured.
Back to the garage.
Cheers
Peter
