« on: 03 Oct 2017 at 14:01 »
Hi all,  Wanted camshaft timing gear R/H the one with dot, as I have two L/H ones perhaps someone would like my spare here's hoping there's no more surprises in this Douglas engine. Many Thanks. Phil 1.

You can use the timing gears you already have. See my Spannerama book.

Hi Neville,  I have your book to hand and may have misread, but my two camshaft gears are identical !, with a number one stamped  for the timing mark, I also notice there are no extractor holes, I feel these gears may not be original to my engine a mark v. PS my crank is at Alpha bearings for big end replacement so this gives me time to attend to other parts.
                                                   Regards Phil 1.

Phil
When I said you could use what you had I meant you could use my book to work out a timing mark on a non-standard gear. L and R are NOT interchangeable as R keyways point to a space and L ones to a tooth. Now for the good news. I have found up a good R one you can have. Just send me the postage.

Hi Neville, I have been away for a while so I apologise for my late reply. It is very good news that you have found a R camshaft Gear for me, just to clarify the two Gears I have are identical and have the keyway centrally aligned to a tooth and the timing mark on number 15 tooth. I was assured this was a runner when I purchased it!! I will forward a cheque to cover your postage today. Many thanks Phil. PS I have a box of miscellaneous bits if you need anything in particular.
