Run S6 without BTH dynamo
« on: 28 May 2017 at 18:25 »
Last winter I have bought a S6 with a new, strong alternator.
I found out, this modification will damage parts of the timing gears, breather and oilpump drive.

I would like to run the engine in the next time without a dynamo (there is a original BTH with the spares, but very worn).
With the bike there is also a "blind cover" to close the pancake hole in the timing cover.

Has someone experience running the S6 engine in this way, what is to do with the dynamo drive behind the cover?

Michael

Hello Michael

I have never had a dynamo on my S6, the dynamo drive is still there and just spins away driving nothing. There is no requirement in the road laws here in Australia requiring working lights or stop lights on early machines, so I never fitted the dynamo I have, which I am sure would need rewinding etc. No harm done in running the machine without  one from my experience.

Cheers, Graeme

Hello Graeme,
thanks for your reply.
I understand you so, you have still the complete drive, but without armature on the engine.
