Wanted: Douglas Dragonfly
« on: 16 Jan 2015 at 20:54 »
First post on this forum but if you think about it, it's a logical place to start....

I'm looking for a Douglas Dragonfly. Preferably running and complete but otherwise scruffy would be ideal. I'm looking for something that can be a good first resto or running resto and would prefer not to spend ages searching for piles of missing parts. Location in the South East of the UK preferred but could travel/arrange collection elsewhere in the UK.

I have a decent budget for the right bike.

Any leads or bikes greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,
Welcome to the land of the Douglas
Having made the first sensible step of joining the forum, may I suggest that the next one is to join the London Douglas Club, we have a fairly active section in the South East, often Members selling bikes from within the Club want to find them a good home. Word of mouth is often the best way of starting a search.
Details can be obtained from our Membership Secretary  by emailing him at membership@douglasmcc.co.uk Cost is a modest 18-00 a year for UK members and it entitles you to our bimonthly magazine (Including adverts!). Access to our spares section as well as other services.
Good luck with your search.
We hope to hear from you.
Dave

Hi Dave,

I wasn't sure whether to get the bike first and then join, but I've filled out the online application. I look forward to seeing the magazine.

Hi Andy, there's one here looks interesting. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/classic-motorcycles-/301493894203?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item46326fbc3b
It's not listed very well so might not get a lot of attention.

Cheers,

Neil
