There seems to be a complete lack of any useful information about this model, and I assume I am going to have to wing it.
Probably, but that's part of the fun! I have a number of old bikes in the shed for which there is not even a period illustration, so in comparison there is a mountain of info about the K32. Luckily bikes of this era are pretty self-explanatory.
Things were pretty grim for everyone in 1932, and Douglas was struggling to keep its head above water. Their 1932 range was extremely optimistic with seven "proper" models (A32, C32, D32, F32, G32, H32 and K32) plus B32, E32 and M32 variants, and some SW6/DT6 machines left over from earlier years.
Was there a 1932 catalogue? It seems so. In the November 19, 1931 edition of The Motor Cycle (the First Special Show Number) the Douglas Motors Ltd advert said "Write for Catalogue", so there is one out there somewhere. The Douglas advert - often stretching over pages in the 1920s - was a 1" display advert in one column of the classifieds. Half the size of the advert for Hebden Breeches that appeared above it!!
Anyway, let me scan some guff from the three Show Editions of the Motor Cycle to get you started. Post photos when you collect it.
Cheers
