Douglas wheels?

Hi forum,

I am new here, hi all. I`m looking info about these wheels that i have. I think that these are from postwar Douglas, can someone confirm this? 40 spokes both of them, front hub is very "thin" and it has 7" brake. Thanks for any info.

Jami,
         The rear wheel is standard Douglas as used on all postwar models from the 1947 T35 Mk1 through to the early (1955) Dragonfly. The front wheel probably came from a Mk4 or 5 as it is painted metallic blue, but will fit all postwar models except the 80 & 90 Plus and late Dragonfly.

Mulla on yhdet Douglas 1947 Mark 1:sen vanteet. Ovat olleet kromatut, mutta paikkailtu noilla kaminaväreillä.
Muuten ne ovat hyväkuntoiset ja niistä saa hyvät maalivanteet hiekkapuhalluksen jälkeen.

Eddie, thank you very much. Did they make their own hubs/brakes, or did they use some other manufacturer makes( British hub, Harwil...)? What about this front wheel with 8" brake, i think that this is from same manufacturer made.

Hi Jami,
             Early veteran Douglases had Chater Lea hubs - then after WW1 Douglas made their own hubs of varying designs up until 1956 when they 'bought in' British Hub units in an attempt to cut down the manufacturing costs of the Dragonfly.
          Regarding the wheel with the 8" drum - whilst very much like the Douglas design, the rivetted construction suggests that it may not be Douglas. Hubs used prior to WW2 had the brakedrum attached on a tapered spline arrangement with a threaded retaining ring.
