Title: Front brake parts for 1925 EW needed desperately.
Post by: Syn on 22 Jun 2017 at 17:17
Hi. I'm still looking for the front brake stirrup casting and brake blocks etc. for a 1925 Douglas EW.  It's the only parts needed to complete my dad's restoration.  He started from boxes of parts in 1971....

At this point I'll pay whatever is needed (within reason) for broken parts I can use for patterns. Anything.  Even unusable castings.  Because I have a facility for sand casting here.

Please-- pictures, drawings, parts, anything.

My email is jefferson.klix@gmail.com and my phone number in the US is 701-651-9093.

Thank you so very much!

Thanks!

Hi Jefferson,

I would have thought that the standard EW front brake would have been a drum one not the stirrup brake type of the earlier 2 3/4 HP ones? (check the model photo guides in this forum).

If you do indeed need stirrup brake parts they can sourced from Bert Pol in Holland;

but I would check your machine model first before pursuing purchase of the stirrup brakes. If you can post some pictures of your bike and/or give frame/engine numbers, forum members may be able to help with the  identification.

Cheers

Hi Jefferson,

I looked back through your posts from 2011 and i can now see that you have a late 2 3/4 HP not an EW. That means you will be most likely requiring the stirrup brake from Bert Pol for this model. There is a slim chance that you have CW forks requiring the dummy belt rim front brake but posting a picture of the front end of your bike would be the easiest way for forum members to help you out.
