Hi all,
Picked up a copy of Issue 3 of
Old Bike just recently - from this current issue it is to become a quarterly publication, previously half-yearly - it's a good read full of interesting stories and accounts of major Australian club events, etc. and is well worth a subscription.
It was a pleasant surprise to read in this issue that our own forum member Peter Davey (username
pjondeck) had outstanding success with his 1937 Y13 750cc V-twin BSA in the
Second National Annual BSA Rally held last September at Wallerawang in New South Wales. I'm sure at least some of you would like to join me in congratulating Peter on his winning of
Best Bike of the Rally. So congratulations Peter!
Peter's Beeza is described in the article as being immaculate - it's not hard to believe that if you have a look at the photos below which are re-published here with Peter's permission. That's Peter mounted on the bike and again at the righthand side of the bike (squatting) in the group photo - not far from being immaculate himself but Peter may tell you that outward appearance doesn't count and photographs lie!
- whatever, it is a great action picture photographed by Tim Munro.
The magazine article conveys the story of how Peter acquired this beautiful machine way back in 1978 - it was complete then except for the brake pedal and as for Peter's more recent transformation of his Douglas MK3S, (read the story
here), his restoration skills are at the forefront. For obvious reasons I can't copy the full story over to here, you'll have to buy the magazine, or perhaps Peter will re-tell the story in his own words below for the benefit of our readers?
Alwyn
